Coleus Plus

Coleus Forskholii is an Ayurvedic plant with di-terpene-lambdane active ingredient forskolin. Forskolin is a potent activator of cyclic amp an important regulator of cellular function.
This important element gives this supplement a valuable regulatory role in many vital body systems. It is no coincedance that many doctors are finding supporting evidence that chronic problems in these ital body systems are contributing to the development of many of the major health problems facing us today.

Main applications as reported by literature:

  • The importance of cAMP is similar to the beneficial
activities of compounds such as ATP, Co-Q-10, NADH and other redox agents. Acti-Cyclase may also influence hormonal activity.
  • Hormonal response modulator.
  • Cardiovascular support.
  • Asthmatic support.
  • Allergy support.
  • Support in psoriasis.
  • Anti-spasmodic.
  • Healthy intraocular pressure.
  • Lipolysis.

Additional Professional Information

The basic mechanism of action of Coleus is the activation of an enzyme, adenylate cyclase, which increases the amount of cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) in cells. Cyclic AMP is perhaps the most important cell regulating compound. Once formed it activates many other enzymes involved in diverse cellular functions. The effects of raised cAMP include: inhibition of mast cell degranulation and histamine release, inhibition of platelet activation and degranulation, increased force of contraction of heart muscle, relaxation of the arteries and other smooth muscles, increased insulin secretion, increased thyroid function, and increased lypolysis (fat breakdown). Note: smooth muscle refers to the tissue found in the bronchioles, GI tract, uterus, bladder and arteries.
